Jamaica played its first rugby international in 1960, facing Trinidad and Tobago in a closely contested match that ended 3-6. Over the years, the team has competed in the Caribbean Championship, going head-to-head with teams from Antigua, Trinidad and Tobago, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, and Guyana.
The team first entered Rugby World Cup qualifiers in 2003, where they faced tough competition, including a challenging match against Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, Jamaica has continued to pursue qualification, showing resilience in each attempt, including campaigns in 2007 and 2011. While these efforts ended in early rounds, the team remains committed to growing and competing on the global stage.
Jamaica Rugby is more than just a team; it’s a testament to the island’s dedication, hard work, and love for the sport. We continue to strive for excellence and aim to make our mark in future World Cups.
